Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) is one of the essential projects inside Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, delivering lot of ambitious goals and marking a vital step closer to the economic diversification power of the Emirate. It is located in Al Taweela area between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

According to Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), the  total cost of investments in the first segment of Kizad and Khalifa Port, projected for final touch in the fourth quarter of 2012, is nearly AED 26.5 billion (US$ 7.2 billion). On completion, the 418-square-kilometre Kizad site will become one of the Middle East’s largest industrial free-trade and non-free trade zones.

KIZAD allows two legal structures for conducting a business:

  • Freezone Limited Liability Company (FZ-LLC): a separate legal entity, with shareholders as individuals or corporate. The minimum capital requirement for incorporation depends on the business activity.
  • Branch of Foreign or UAE Company: a legally dependent entity that is part of the parent company. It conducts some of the operations inherent in the parents business. Share capital not required.

There are three license categories: Industrial, Trading and Service.
